A true classic
In the year 1929 Pelikan was the first company in the world to introduce the differentiated piston mechanism. This technique causes the spindle inside the fountain pen to turn quicker than the end piece of the barrel, with the help of two different threads. To this date, this fountain pen exists in many different variations, and though it has been developed in design and technical details over time, the basic mechanism remains the same.
Only few years after the first Souverän model was launched on the market, the Souverän in black was presented in 1985. The main difference between this pen and its predecessors is that the sleeve is not striped. The barrel is made of entirely black high-grade resin. The view window of the ink container that is set off in a shade of transparent green as well as its gold plating give this fountain pen an individual character and the nostalgic aura of an original classic pen.

Fountain pens
Piston filler with a 24 carat gold plating and a high-quality resin casing and a viewing window to monitor the ink level. The nibs of the Souverän piston fillers M1000 and M800 are made of 18 carat/750 gold, the nibs of the models M600 and M400 are made of 14 carat/585 gold. All nibs are refined with a rhodium decor and their writing qualities were tested by hand. The fountain pens are equipped with a differential piston-filling mechanism, of which is elaborated with high-value brazen components on the models M1000 and M800.

Ball pens
Ballpoint pen with a body made of diamond-processed high-quality resin and a 24 carat gold plating. The Souverän ballpoint pen has an exchangeable large compartment refill 337. The models K800 and K600 are equipped with a twisting mechanism, model K400 with a push mechanism.

Pencils
Pencil including a diamond-processed high-quality resin casing and a 24 carat gold plating. Twisting mechanism included for the Souverän models D800 and D600, respectively, a push mechanism is included for the model D400. The equipment also includes a hi-polymer lead and an exchangeable eraser.
